Spring Break in Cayman Brac

On March 20th a group of enthusiastic Spring Breakers met at DIA to catch a red-eye flight to the beautiful Caribbean destination of Cayman Brac.  After a day of travel, the group arrived at the Cayman Brac Reef Beach Resort, checked into their rooms, had an early dinner, and headed off to bed to dream of the upcoming days spent under water amongst the wonders of the ocean.

The next six days would be spent enjoying the valet dive service while diving off the Ocean Sister with Dive-Master’s Steve & Garret.  Most days were 3 dive days, starting with a deep dive on one of Brac’s famous walls, followed by several shallower dives in the surrounding coral gardens teeming with schooling fish.  Highlights of the week included two night dives (first night dive for many of the guests), diving the Russian Frigate “Keith Tibbits” (first wreck dive for many guests), and a trip over to Little Cayman to dive the famous Bloody Bay Wall.  Congratulations is in order to Kelly Lucy for completing his Advanced Open Water during the trip as well as completing his 100th dive!

On land, the resort took good care of us all week with some amazing meals and scheduled nightly activities, ending the week with an island BBQ and live music.  The Weaver’s trivia team “Porpoise of Life” headed by Davis Rudge, age 13, won the weekly trivia contest, sweeping aside the other competitors with ease.

After a week of perfect weather and calm seas, we awoke on departure day to rain.  We had timed our trip perfectly and it was time to head home and start thinking about where to go diving next.  Thank you all for joining me on this year’s Spring Break Trip to Cayman Brac!   Jeff  or “Jeef” to those of you on the trip.
